How to Clean Window Tracks

Oct 27,2026 | Thanh

Window tracks often collect dust, hair, and small pieces of outdoor debris. Because the space is narrow, a regular cloth may not reach all the way into the corners. A slim crevice brush can make detailed cleaning easier.

Start by opening the window and removing any loose items from the track. Use a dry brush or vacuum attachment to lift away loose dust and debris. Working dry at the beginning helps prevent dust from turning into a wet paste.

Next, use a narrow brush to work along the track, corners, and edges. Move in short strokes and focus on one section at a time. If the track needs additional cleaning, apply a small amount of suitable cleaning solution to a cloth or brush rather than soaking the entire area.

Wipe away loosened dirt with a clean cloth. For remaining buildup, repeat the process gently. Avoid forcing the brush into areas where it may become stuck or damage the window hardware.

When finished, rinse the removable cleaning section if the product instructions allow it, and let it dry before storing. Regular light cleaning can make the task more manageable than waiting until the entire track has heavy buildup.
